We use full end-to-end encryption
Vispato provides the most secure form of encryption possible – full client-side end-to-end encryption.
Are other providers secure?
Most providers claim that they encrypt data, but in reality, they retain access to the unencrypted data at some point as data flows between a whistleblower and the company. Additionally, the encryption they use is normally a very weak form of server-side encryption.
What’s the difference?
With client-side end-to-end encryption, the encryption key is kept separate from the server, and users encrypt and decrypt their own data. This makes it far more secure than server-side encryption which is particularly vulnerable to third-party attacks.

Why does it matter?
Whistleblower information is some of the most sensitive data that your company will handle and requires maximum security. Furthermore, encrypted data and encryption keys must be kept separately to safely comply with Chapter 1, Article 4 of the EU’s GDPR regulation.

Do I have access to my encryption keys?
If you don’t have access to your encryption keys, then someone else does – and they’re the ones in control of your company’s data.
Do they wipe metadata from files?
Some providers claim they remove metadata from files upon upload. However, this wouldn’t be possible with full end-to-end encryption as the provider would never have access to the file.
Do they provide automatic translations?
In order for a provider to automatically translate whistleblowing reports, they would need to send the decrypted data to a server.
